Surf Lessons
Point Breaks are accredited by the British Surfing Association (BSA).
All our instructors are BSA qualified and are fully qualified beach lifeguards. Our groups are kept to small ratios, usually with one instructor to six students. The maximum ratio we have for teaching is one instructor to eight students on our multi-activity weekends and when we cater for large groups.
We are not a budget surf school! You do not just get ten minutes on the beach and in you go! We teach full and thorough lessons with a very high success rate. We cover many categories such as surfboard handling, beach safety, paddle techniques, body stances and professional jump throughs, don't think you will just get to your knees, we aim to get you standing.
Our instructors are local surfers who know the local conditions like the back of their hand. We choose where you surf based on the prevailing conditions, the swell size, wind direction and state of the tide. We teach the surf lessons at Croyde Bay or Putsborough.
We use a variety or surfboards and sizes depending on your size and skill level – mini-mal soft boards for beginners, hard/soft boards for those progressing and custom boards for more advanced (although advanced lesson surfers usually have their own boards). The minimum age for surf lessons is eight years.
